DEPUTY MINISTER PHUMZILE MGCINA TO HOST THABAZIMBI LOCAL MINING INDABA
ON 5 OCTOBER 2026, LIMPOPO PROVINCE
The Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Ms Phumzile Mgcina, will host the
Local Mining Indaba on 05 October 2026, in Thabazimbi, Limpopo Province. The engagement
seeks to promote inclusive, sustainable and responsible mining development, while identifying
practical and collaborative solutions to challenges affecting mining operations and host
communities.
The Indaba will bring together mining companies, government representatives, host communities
and other key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and facilitate constructive dialogue on
issues affecting the local mining sector and communities. Key areas of discussion will include
local economic development, employment opportunities, enterprise and supplier development,
community participation, and the effective implementation of Social and Labour Plans (SLPs).
Emphasis will be placed on ensuring that development initiatives associated with mining
operations are responsive to local needs, priorities and socio-economic development objectives.
