I want to apply for a prospecting/ mining permit. How do I go about? What are the requirements? Send me the forms?
Applications are done online only on our Samrad Online Applications system, which is on our website. Read more on the SA Government website on what the requirements and other details are. You may also contact our nearest Regional Office in the province where you intend to mine.

I/we want to apply for a small-scale mining permit. Can the Department assist with funding?
The Department does not provide any funding for small scale miners. However, you may approach any financial institution for assistance. These include the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (SEFA) and the Industrial Development Corporation(IDC).
3.
I want to trade in minerals. What do I need?
If you want to trade in precious metals (e.g. diamonds, platinum) you may contact the SA Diamond and Precious Metals Regulator.
4.
I want to write the Government Certificate of Competency examinations. Where can I get training or study material?
The DMR does not provide any training. You may contact the Department of Higher Education and Training for a list of training service providers.

How are these standards indicated?
The label that is used to indicate energy efficiency is similar to the label used in European Union (EU) member states. The only difference being that the EU flag is replaced by the energy star, the DoE symbol for the Energy Efficiency Initiative. All products that are legally imported or produced in South Africa carry the Energy Star, which will be visible in the bottom right corner of the appliance. Appliances will also carry a label indicating energy consumption.
