DEPUTY MINISTER PHUMZILE MGCINA TO HOST WOMEN IN MINING DIALOGUE
The Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Ms Phumzile Mgcina, will host Women in Mining Dialogue to be held at the Seasons Golf, Leisure & Spa, Madibeng Local Municipality, Northwest Province. The Dialogue will provide a platform for women in the mining sector to engage directly with government, industry stakeholders and institutions responsible for mining regulation, economic development, skills development and the creation of sustainable economic opportunities.
The engagement is aimed at providing women with a better understanding of available government programmes, support mechanisms and opportunities across the mining value chain. It will also create space for women to raise the challenges they experience in the sector and to engage directly with decision-makers on practical interventions to address these challenges.
The Deputy Minister will engage with women on the progress made in transforming the mining sector, while listening to their experiences, concerns and aspirations. The Dialogue will further seek to identify areas where government and industry can strengthen support and create meaningful, sustainable and inclusive opportunities for women across the mining value chain.
