DEPUTY MINISTER PHUMZILE MGCINA TO HOST WOMEN IN MINING AND PETROLEUM CONFERENCE AT THE SOUTHERN SUN-ELANGENI & MAHARANI HOTEL, IN DURBAN
The Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Ms Phumzile Mgcina, will on 07 September 2026, host the Women in Mining and Petroleum Sector conference at the Southern Sun, Elangeni & Maharani Hotel, Durban in KwaZulu Natal.
The conference will be hosted under the theme: "Imbokodo: Empowering Women to Lead, Innovate and Prosper in South Africa's Mining and Petroleum Economy." It forms part of the Department's commitment to advancing women's economic empowerment and increasing women's participation across the mining and petroleum value chain.
The conference is aimed at providing women with a better understanding of available government programmes, support mechanisms and opportunities across the mining value chain. It will also create space for women to raise the challenges they experience in the sector and to engage directly with decision-makers on practical interventions to address these challenges.
